Icy Plunge Has Real Purpose
Class News Article from the St. Petersburg Times about Dan O'Shea ('91) and swimming the Tampa Bay on 1/3/2010 as part of a fundraiser for a fellow SEAL wounded in Afghanistan.  Great article which you can read on the USNA.com website:

http://www.usna.com/Page.aspx?RSS=alumni&referrer=sub_academy&pid=9547

Part of the article:
Farnan and O'Shea have never met Dan Cnossen . In September, the SEAL lieutenant landed in Afghanistan, and 36 hours later, he stepped on a land mine that took off both his legs.

When the Kansas native arrived at the U.S. Naval Academy, he had never seen the ocean and he did not know how to swim. But by the time he left in the spring of 2002, he was an accomplished triathlete. "Life is all about extremes," he liked to tell his friends.

"From what I hear, this guy is a real fighter," O'Shea said as he sipped his coffee

Dan's website is http://www.dancnossen.org

If you want an email blast of the tail-gate location to meet up and tail-gate with other 91'ers at the Texas Bowl please login to www.usna91.info to get Anthony Spinler's email address & phone number from the forum post.
